The British Dental Association (BDA) is the national professional association for dentists in the UK and we are currently seeking a Research Officer to join our Research team.
Purpose of role: This is a full-time permanent post and the post-holder will be based in our offices in central London. The post-holder will support the BDA Research Team in carrying out qualitative and quantitative research to inform and support the work of the BDA.
Key responsibilities: The main duties and responsibilities include supporting the design and administration of surveys on dentistry topics; supporting the collection of qualitative data on dentistry topics; managing both quantitative and qualitative data for research purposes; conducting analyses of quantitative and qualitative data using software packages such as SPSS and NVivo; collating evidence and undertake literature reviews where necessary; responding to research related queries; coordinating the design and production of the BDA’s Policy and Research Bulletin; and ensuring that the research section of the BDA website is regularly maintained and updated.
Person specification: The successful candidate should have a degree in either economics, public policy, social research, or a health-related subject; experience of social, economic or health research; good knowledge of survey design and administration; experience of entering, managing and analysing quantitative data in SPSS; experience and knowledge of the principles underpinning qualitative research; experience of writing research reports and disseminating research findings to a range of different audiences; the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; excellent organisational capabilities; good numeracy skills; excellent IT skills; and the ability to work independently without supervision, as well as part of a team
