Your main responsibility will be to carry out research in the field of polysaccharide chemistry as part of a team on an industrially related research program in the field of polysaccharide modification and biopolymer based materials development.

You will be expected to contribute to ideas development, laboratory based research, data analysis and dissemination of results of the research through confidential reports, presentations and workshops and publication in peer-reviewed scientific literature.

You will be expected to develop the science and knowledge base of FPRI through participating in national and international networks, as well as liaising with colleagues from other institutions.

To contribute to technology transfer activity of the FPRI and undertake consultancy and commercialisation activities as required.

You may also be required to supervise post graduate research students.

Candidates must possess a PhD in a relevant field of chemistry and possess demonstrable experience in polysaccharide chemistry or closely related subject. You must have published at least 4 relevant peer reviewed journal articles and have relevant experience in a related laboratory environment and the writing up of research results and progress reports.  The ability to plan and undertake a scheduled programme of research is essential. In addition, you must have ability with, and awareness of, laboratory health & safety procedures.  A flexible approach and ability to adjust to varying workload, together with good communication skills and team working abilities are also required.
