NIHR Clinician Scientist Award Scheme for Applied Research
NIHR Trainees Coordinating Centre
The National Institute for Health Research is pleased to invite applications to the thirteenth round of the NIHR Clinician Scientist (NIHR CS) Award Scheme.
The Scheme, which is part of the NIHR Trainees Co-ordinating Centre (NIHR TCC) Integrated Academic Training Programme, is intended to nurture a cadre of clinical academics capable of leading research in their discipline and will provide up to five years post-doctoral funding with access to academic mentorship; flexible academic career development; and clinical specialist training where appropriate.
Medical and dental graduates who have been awarded a research doctorate in a basic science/clinical or health related subject or who have submitted their doctoral thesis at the time of application to the NIHR CS scheme are eligible to apply. The NIHR CS Award scheme is aimed at researchers wishing to pursue clinical and applied health research topics and is not suitable for applicants wishing to undertake basic research.
Awards provide for salary costs of the award holder and support post, research costs appropriate for completing a training fellowship and a sum to support training, travel and/or conference attendance during the Award. Successful applicants may spend up to 4 sessions a week on NHS clinical sessions within the time funded by an Award.
