Assistant MIS Officer

University of Buckingham

Circa. £26,000 per annum
1 Year Fixed Term Contract
35 hours per week

The University of Buckingham is the UK's only independent University with a royal charter. It is committed to excellence and to providing an outstanding service to its students.  The University was rated top in the National Student Satisfaction survey for the past six years.

We are currently seeking to recruit a graduate to assist our MIS Officer as we continue introducing a number of new database systems and improve the integration between existing systems to streamline existing business processes throughout the University.

Working in the Technical Team, your responsibilities will include supporting, maintaining and upgrading existing MIS systems as well as installing, documenting and supporting new systems.  Work underway includes new systems for accommodation and finance, web portals to our student records and human resources systems, and automating time consuming business processes releasing administrative staff to spend more time directly helping students.

The successful candidate will have experience of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (exposure to other DBMSs, such as MySQL, would be advantageous); writing SQL queries; and VB scripting. The Technical Team provides technical backup to the Helpdesk Teamdepartments, so general computing and problem solving skills will also be required.

This is a challenging role within a small, committed team of technology professionals and offers highly sought after commercial IT experience that will enhance future career prospects.
