Salary: up to £44,607 per annum

 (depending on qualifications & experience)

An experienced Health & Safety Manager, covering both Biological Safety and general Health and Safety matters, is required to provide Health, Safety and Regulatory leadership across dual sites, in support of academic research and teaching within the fields of biosciences, health and medical sciences, and - from 2014 - veterinary medicine.

You will be dynamic and effective, and capable of working collaboratively with academic staff, technical staff and students, whilst challenging, advising and guiding them as necessary to maintain and improve health and safety performance, and to meet all legal and regulatory standards.  You will be comfortable liaising with external agencies, such as the HSE and DEFRA, and have significant and extensive experience of the regulation of work with biological agents to enable the Faculty and University to meet all its responsibilities and maintain its reputation.  Your drive, determination and proactive approach to setting and improving laboratory safety, in particular, will be critical to your success. 

Educated to degree level with Chartered Membership of the Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH), you will have significant knowledge and laboratory expertise in a biomedical, veterinary medicine or related field, and a proven track record of some budget and resource management.
