This position is based in Stafford (ST18 0GP).

This 2 year post has been created as a result of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Lancaster University’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics and Business Safety Systems Ltd (http://www.business-safety.com/ ).  On completion of a successful project there may be opportunities for on-going employment within the company partner.

Business Safety Systems is an innovative solutions provider for risk management, focusing on health and safety, environmental, and absence and back to work management. Business Safety Systems range of products and services include Health and Safety Audits, outsourced Environmental and Health and Safety management services, consultancy support for Environmental and Health and Safety, a class-leading T100 Risk Manager product, and the provision of a wide range of accredited and independent training courses.

The Statistics group in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is an internationally recognised centre of research excellence. For over twenty years the Group has been at the forefront of the UK research effort in Statistics, establishing a strong track record of theoretical innovation arising from real-world challenge.

You will be employed by Lancaster University, but will be based at Business Safety Systems, which is located at Stafford Technology Park in Stafford. You will lead this exciting project which aims to develop novel statistical methodology and the associated technology to enable organisations to predict, mitigate and reduce the consequences of sickness absence.  You will work closely with and be supported by academics from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the senior management team at Business Safety Systems.

For this post, the ideal candidate would have a PhD in Statistics with knowledge of MCMC and computer programming desirable. Additional attributes will include good project management and team working skills.
