Department Manager

King's College London -Department of Geography , School of Social Science & Public Policy

The Department of Geography at King’s College London is seeking to appoint a Department Manager who will play a key role in the future development of the department. The person appointed will manage a team of professional services staff and, working with the Head of Department and senior team, will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the Department’s strategic planning.

The post-holder will have overall responsibility for the operational management of the Department. S/he will be responsible for the smooth running of the Department, including the allocation of resources (finance, space and administrative support) and the management of the administration team. S/he will provide support for strategic planning, policy and programme developments and for the preparation and submission of external reviews of departmental operations, such as QAA and research assessment exercises. S/he will be responsible for the efficient conduct of all financial operations within the Department in accordance with College financial regulations and procedures.

The successful applicant will have substantial administrative experience in Higher Education as well as financial management and experience of leading a team of professional services staff. S/he will be familiar with the HE environment and have an understanding of the objectives and challenges of a large academic department.

The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience, within the Grade 7 scale, currently £40,845 to £48,264 per annum, inclusive of £2,323 London Allowance, per annum.
