The National Schools’ Observatory (NSO) is a major educational website, established by Liverpool John Moores University to provide UK schools with access to a professional robotic telescope that was designed for scientific research, called the Liverpool Telescope (LT). The NSO aims to attract, inspire and enthuse children about science and technology through the medium of astronomy.

You will assist with the management and future development of the NSO website, and take the lead in developing astronomy related mobile applications aimed at school audiences. You will also support the development of online multimedia resources, tools and educational content for the NSO and ARI websites, and assist with the management and maintenance of two NSO/ARI servers.

You will be educated to good A-level standard in a STEM subject and have proven experience in the management of websites and servers.  You will also have at least one year's experience in the development of mobile applications for the iOS and Android environments. This will require a good working knowledge of Linux, Drupal, HTML, PHP, CSS, Flash, Javascript, JAVA and the Windows OS environment. We are also looking for evidence that the successful candidate is able to communicate scientific principles and concepts to schoolchildren using a wide range of online media resources.
