Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
The Institute for Medical Science & Technology (IMSaT) is looking for a Research Assistant. Principle tasks will include the use of ExAblate and RTHawk, and the ideal candidate will have a PhD, experience in physics bioengineering with a background in the field of image guided procedures. Experience with the basics of CAD/CAM, FMEA, SOLID Works, AutoCAD, Pro Engineer, math lab, lab view would also be an advantage.
Principal Duties
The post is funded by the FP7 project FUSIMO (http://www.fusimo.eu/) which will develop, implement and validate a multi-level model for moving abdominal organs for use with FUS and Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound surgery. The overall patient specific model will consist of several sub-models, which interact and describe aspects in a hierarchical manner. The integrated model will consist of:
• Abdominal organ model to simulate motion and the influence on ultrasound application
• Target organ/tumour model to capture organ/tumour physiology, and organ/tumour reaction to therapy
• Microscopic tissue model to simulate direct heat ablation, model energy distribution, tissue heating and cooling
• Model to evaluate first steps to simulate drug delivery, micro bubble distribution and dynamics
Any Additional Information
The appointment will be made on the University of Dundee Grade 7 scale plus superannuation with initial placement depending on achievements and experience. This post is offered until no later than 31 December 2013 when the project ends.
