The Cartoon and Comic Arts degree at Staffordshire University is a new award that enables students to develop and define their skills in visual and narrative communication through specialist platforms including digital imaging, publication design and graphic novels, life drawing, animation, storyboarding, print making and 3D craft.
The post offers an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in the development, delivery and profile of this unique, innovative and energetic award and you will be expected to engage with a wide range of professionals and enhance the award’s profile, both nationally and internationally.
With a proven track record in cartooning/comics/graphic novels, together with teaching experience, you will be a dynamic individual who can complement, build upon and continue to drive this highly creative and diverse programme that encourages creative visual storytelling and the importance of drawing and visualising the narrative.
You will have strong understanding of the business, professional and contextual issues relevant to the curriculum area and demonstrate the ability to provide effective learning that will enhance student employability, together with the skills that clearly communicate the relationship between studio practice and its contexts.
You will have the flexibility to communicate to undergraduate students on a range of art and design programmes (illustration, animation) and stimulate debate and research in the interchange between emerging cartoon and comic art and illustration concepts and disciplines, new technologies and user engagement in contemporary visual culture.
