First established in 1897, the School provides teaching and research across linguistics and applied linguistics, literature and culture studies, and translation studies.

The School is renowned for its research and teaching. It offers the first-order discipline authorized to confer Ph.D. and MA degrees of foreign languages and literature, and 1 post-doctoral program. The School houses 1 provincial research centre of social science studies and 1 provincial key first-order discipline.

The School is conducting 18 nation-funded, 8 Ministry-funded and over 100 provincial funded projects. It has published over 30 academic works and over 190 CSSCI papers. It has been awarded 1 national and 3 provincial teaching achievement prizes.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. degree from an internationally renowned university;
• Research experience in outstanding academic institutions;
• Publications for stage of career and exceptional potential in the related field;
• Basic Chinese communication skills for applicants of non-Chinese origin.

Responsibilities:

• Teach in the specific field of the applied position for undergraduate, MA and Ph.D. students;
• Supervise MA and Ph.D. candidates;
• Contribute to the research of the discipline: develop research projects in the related fields, secure research funds, cultivate academic networks, and develop the impact of research.

Salaries and Benefits:

• Annual salary RMB 200,000 for professor, RMB 150,000 for associate professor, and RMB 100,000 for assistant professor. Specific treatments for outstanding applicants are to be negotiated in person;
• Settlement allowance RMB 200,000 for professor, and RMB 140,000 for associate professor and assistant professor, monthly payment in five years;
• Monthly accommodation rental subsidy for the first 2 years, RMB 400 for the unmarried and RMB 600 for the married;
• Start-up research fund RMB 100,000 for professor;
• Youth Scholar Funding available for professor, associate professor and assistant professor under 40, with a lump-sum research grant of RMB 250,000 / 200,000/ 150,000, annual payment in five years (depending on the applied position);
