The School of Economy and Trade at Hunan University traces its root to 1926. It offers master’s degrees and doctoral degrees in the two first-order disciplines - theoretical economics and applied economics. It has two post-doctoral programs in theoretical economics and applied economics. It awards bachelor’s degrees in International Trade, Economics and Finance and Taxation, among which International Trade is named the National Key Discipline, and International Economics and Trade is the National Characteristic Specialty. It is also the home to Key Construction Project Subject for “China’s Opening Economy System Research” of “211 Project” and Philosophy and Social Science Innovation Base for “Economic Opening up and Trade Development” of “985 Project”. The school has 90 staff of which 29 are professors. Seventy percent of the faculty gained doctoral degrees at many prestigious universities. Now over 2,000 students with 1,300 undergraduates, 600 master students, 150 doctoral students and around 100 international graduate students are studying in the school.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Conduct full-time lecturing and research in the discipline of International Economics, Institutional Economics, Econometrics, Labor Economics, Industrial Economics, Regional economics, International Business, Economics History and History of Economics Thought, Energy and Ecological Economics.
  • Obtained a PhD degree from an internationally renowned university.
  • Research experience with outstanding academic achievements will be a huge plus.
  • Applications of non-Chinese origin should have basic Chinese communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Basic salary RMB 100,000 for assistant professor, RMB 150,000 for associate professor and RMB 200,000 for professor. Specific treatments for outstanding applicants are to be negotiated in person.
  • Settlement allowance RMB 200,000 for professors and RMB 140,000 for associate professors and assistant professors, paid in monthly within five years.
  • Monthly accommodation rental subsidy within 2 years, RMB 400 for unmarried and RMB 600 for married.
  • Start-up research fund RMB 100,000 for professors.
  • Youth Scholars funding available for assistant professor and associated professor under 40 years old, with a lump-sum research grant of RMB 150,000, annual payment in five years.

  • 3 month University semester vacation, summer vacation runs from July to August and Winter vacation around Chinese New Year.
