Hunan University - College of Information Science and Engineering

The college has two level 1 discipline Ph.D. programs, computer science and technology and software engineering; three level 1 discipline master programs, computer science and technology, software engineering, and information and communication engineering. Among these disciplines, computer science and technology is a provincial key discipline. The college has seven undergraduate programs: computer science and technology, communication engineering, information security, intelligence science and technology, software engineering, digital media technology, and Engineering for Internet of Things. Among these undergraduate programs, software engineering program and communication engineering program are national featured programs, computer science and technology program is a provincial key program.

The college now has 37 full professors and 74 associate professors, including national "Thousand Talents Plan" scientists and Yangtze River Scholars. More than 60% faculty members have Ph.D. degree.

General Responsibilities and Requirements for All Positions:

• Conduct full-time lecturing and research in the related disciplines.
• A PhD degree or equivalent in the relevant area from an internationally recognized university.
• Research experience with outstanding academic achievements will be given special considerations.
• Fluent in English communication and technical writing, applications of non-Chinese origins are encouraged to have basic Chinese communication skills.
• Responsible for teaching at least one core course in the related major for undergraduate students and one basic course each year.
• Supervising graduate students. Teaching at least 1 graduate degree course.
• According to the teaching management requirement, accomplish all teaching tasks and meet the standard of teaching quality assessment.
• Take charge of improving the academic performance in his/her research discipline, mentor young faculties and researchers, and take charge of university level and college level administrative, consulting, and other service tasks.

Specific Responsibilities and Requirements for different positions:

Professor: have been on an associate professor or equivalent position for 5 years; take charge of national level research projects; publish high quality academic papers in related research fields, and achieve significant research results.

Associate Professor: have two years of working experience after Ph.D. degree (teaching experience is preferred); strong academic publication record in related research fields in internationally well-known journals; take charge of provincial level research projects, and achieve significant research results.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Annual salary RMB 100,000 for assistant professor, RMB 150,000 for associate professor and RMB 200,000 for professor. Specific treatments for outstanding applicants are to be negotiated in person.
• Settlement allowance RMB 200,000 for professors and RMB 140,000 for associate professors and assistant professors, paid in monthly within five years.
• Monthly accommodation rental subsidy within 2 years, RMB 400 for unmarried and RMB 600 for married.
• Start-up research fund RMB 100,000 for professors.
• Youth Scholars funding available for assistant professor and associated professor under 40 years old, with a lump-sum research grant of RMB 150,000/200,000/250,000, annual payment in five years.
• Full university benefits and public insurance.
• 3 month University semester vacation, summer vacation runs from July to August and Winter vacation around Chinese New Year.
