The Department of Economics at the University of Strathclyde is seeking a Professor to join its team. The successful candidate will also be appointed as Director of the Fraser of Allander Institute (for a five-year period in the first instance), which is part of the Department of Economics. The Fraser of Allander Institute is the leading source of independent commentary on the Scottish economy and has an international reputation in regional economics, policy analysis and multi-sectoral economic and economic-energy-environmental modelling, with applications to regions within the UK, EU and USA. Candidates must have demonstrated a commitment to high level research and show evidence of being able to publish in leading refereed journals, attract external funding from prestigious sources, lead the team of researchers based in FAI and show commitment to high impact knowledge exchange activities.
The Department has a vibrant undergraduate degree and has recently successfully launched two new postgraduate degrees: MSc Applied Economics and MSc Global Energy Management. The Economics Department is part of the Strathclyde Business School. As well as being triple accredited for its courses, Strathclyde Business School is highly rated for its research. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise SBS was ranked first for Business and Management research in Scotland and joint seventh in the UK.
