Grade 7 - £30,424 to £36,298 p.a.

The University of Stirling is seeking to appoint an outstanding Early Career Psychologist within the School of Natural Sciences. The post is on a fixed term, full-time basis for twelve months from 1 September 2013.

The Early Career Fellow will be expected to contribute to teaching activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Over the one year term of appointment, the successful candidate will be expected to develop as an independent researcher and to publish in academic journals. In addition, candidates should have an ambition to enhance the School's external profile and to develop collaborative research links.

The Early Career Fellowship is a twelve month, fixed term position at grade 7 designed for those who are at the very early stage of an academic career and who seek to develop their teaching experience and independent research so as to be in a position at the end of the period to apply for lecturer positions. A mentor and a reviewer will be identified to work with the Fellow.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications
- A doctorate in relevant area, or PhD in a relevant area near completion.

Research
- Excellent research motivation and demonstrable potential to produce published research of a high standard.
- The potential to apply for external funding for research and knowledge transfer.
- Attend and contribute to subject group meetings.

Leadership & Academic Management
- The potential to contribute effectively and efficiently to academic administrative roles.

Teaching
- Teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Ability and willingness to teach across the Psychology curriculum.
- Skills in the development of teaching materials, methods and approaches.

Skills, Attitudes & Behaviour
- Effective interpersonal skills including communication (written and verbal), presentation and team working skills.
- Self-reliance and the ability to cope with pressure and conflicting demands.
- Time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
- An ability to work collaboratively and effectively with academic and administrative colleagues, and with colleagues outside the University.

Personal Qualities
- Evidence of goal orientation and achievement.
- A positive attitude, enthusiasm, and self motivation.
- The ability to get on with and work with others and contribute effectively as part of a team.
- A willingness to support international activities.
