Fixed Term Contract: 36 months
You will join the molecular simulation group at Warwick to undertake research into the aggregation of peptides and nanoparticles. The project is part of a major international collaboration funded as an EPSRC Programme Grant "Hard-soft interfaces: from understanding to engineering".
You will be expected to evaluate existing methods for studying molecular aggregation and self-assembly in soft matter, and to implement one or more of these within a new or existing code to simulate coarse-grained models of the systems of interest. You will also be expected to play an active role within the theoretical physics group, the cross-department molecular simulation group at Warwick, and the multi-institution research consortium, attending seminars and workshops, assisting with supervision of graduate students, and organising research events and visits.
You will have experience in performing and analysing molecular dynamics and/or Monte Carlo simulations. An interest in developing/adapting new techniques is highly desirable, as is experience of developing molecular simulation software. You will be familiar with operating in a Unix/Linux/Mac-based computational research environment. If you have a background in computational statistical mechanics your application is strongly encouraged.
You will be capable of working within a broader research team and demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills, and maintaining a current knowledge of the simulation literature. The ability to communicate research to an interdisciplinary audience will also be required.
This post will begin 1st October 2013 for two years, with the possibility of extension.
Closing date: 31 May 2013
