Job Summary
Fixed term for one year
The aim of the project is to determine an approach for optimal histological identification of Interstitial Cells of Cajal in Human Tissue and use this method to study the cells in human vascular tissue and mammalian myocardium. You will conduct all aspects of the procedures required to identify the cells. This will include collecting, fixing, sectioning and staining tissue for Interstitial Cells of Cajal. You will also analyse the staining using appropriate microscopic methods. This post will contribute to the Faculty’s research in the area of Biomedicine and Health.
You will be educated to Degree level, BTEC higher level or have equivalent qualification/ experience. You should have experience of working in a laboratory environment and in histological procedures, for example tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry (this can include a period in Further or Higher Education). Previous experience with human tissue is desirable.
University Grade 5 (£20,764- £24,049 p.a.) Due to funding limitations an appointment will not be above £20,764 p.a.
