An opportunity has arisen to join the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering for a three year research studentship in the field of geotechnical engineering, leading to the award of a PhD degree.

About the project
Start date: Ideally October 2013, will consider January/April 2014
Funding: Home/EU fees
Stipend of £13,590 (correct for 2013/14) per year.
Training support grant of £1000 per year.

Applications are invited for a project investigating the influence of extreme rainfall on the instability of natural and man-made slopes. It is anticipated that this will include field measurements, data analysis and/or numerical modelling.

How to apply
Applicants should have a first class or 2:1 degree in an engineering or earth sciences discipline. Enthusiastic and self-motivated candidates with industrial experience, good team-working and good communication skills are encouraged to apply. Due to funding restrictions, studentships will cover the tuition fees and stipend for qualified UK/EU citizens only.
