Chair of Zoology

Applications are invited from innovative researchers of international standing for the Chair of Zoology in the School of Biological Sciences. For this post we are seeking an individual with an established record of discovery within the field of Immunology, whose research focuses on infectious disease or on fundamental immunology with clear links to infectious disease research. Candidates should have the vision and skills required to promote the development of novel research programmes and to form effective collaborative partnerships with colleagues from a wide range of scientific disciplines. You should be an enthusiastic and engaging teacher, with the ability to enhance students’ experience of studying at Edinburgh and to lead in the development of online education at masters and undergraduate level. The Chair of Zoology will have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the University’s long-term biological strategy, building on Edinburgh’s existing excellence in immunology and infection, evolutionary biology, stem cell/regenerative medicine and cell biology/epigenetics. The appointee will be affiliated with the University's Wellcome Trust-funded Centre for Immunology, Infection and Evolution.
