The University of Tasmania invites applications from highly motivated, intelligent and enthusiastic individuals who wish to undertake a Higher Degree by Research.

A diverse range of projects are currently available to undertake research with internationally renowned researchers in world-class research facilities.

The University of Tasmania was the fourth university founded in Australia, and over its 126 year history has made the pursuit of the extraordinary a never-ending commitment that influences a world-class approach to research.

With more than 6,000 international students drawn from over 80 countries, our global reach, supported by partnerships with more than 90 institutions in 30 countries around the world, is ever expanding.

With research embedded within local and national industries, we offer Higher Degree by Research candidates a thriving and dynamic research environment and the opportunity to impact the future prosperity of society and the environment at local, national and global levels.

Our leadership in these areas is demonstrated through our research institutes, including the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Ore Deposits (CODES), the Australian Centre for Research on Separation Science (ACROSS) and the Australian Maritime College (AMC).

We offer a range of scholarships to international Higher Degree by Research candidates which are awarded throughout the year on the basis of merit.
