Repository Technical Support Engineer

About You: We’re looking for an experienced technical problem solver who is also a great customer facing communicator. You must be self-driven to understand the detailed behaviour of every corner of a configurable system before offering options to customers, valuing self-motivated preparation and comprehensive understanding over reactive learning.

Experience and a good level of ability with XML and XSLT is required, as well as a proven track record of successfully managing business critical customer-facing data migration projects. Previous experience working with institutional digital repositories or within the academic publishing industry is highly desirable.

About The Role: You will be required to gain a comprehensive understanding of how our flagship product – Symplectic Elements – is designed to be integrated with DSpace, EPrints, Hydra and a variety of other digital repository systems in support of customer institutional Open Access policies.

Armed with that knowledge, you will quickly become responsible for the successful implementation of customer digital repository integration projects, understanding requirements, developing, testing and delivering carefully configured data crosswalks, maintaining technical documentation and providing options and advice to meet customer needs.

You will remain responsible for the provision of ongoing technical support for digital repository integrations, including where appropriate implementing requested alterations.

This role will present you with plenty of opportunities for responsibility across a wide range of activities in the product support and services lifecycle, with a heavy emphasis on technical data manipulation and application configuration, but also including business analysis, customer expectation management, and integration testing.
