(Senior) Mechanical Engineer

Deregallera Ltd is a high tech company based in Caerphilly, Wales that is developing advanced motor technologies and energy storage materials and systems. In the past 4 years the company has set up a multidisciplinary research group with the aim of supporting the rapid development of new materials and structures that may be used in these applications.

At this time, Deregallera Ltd requires three full-time Mechanical Engineers (or Senior Mechanical Engineers, depending on skills and experience) fitting the following profile;



  • BEng/MEng (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline


  • Chartered engineer status



  • Significant relevant industry experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • 3D CAD competence
  • Detail/manufacturing drawing production


  • Electric motor design
  • Experience of high speed rotating assemblies
  • Competent with SolidWorks part design and drafting, geometric tolerancing, BoM generation, FEA and hand calcs


  • Capable of working both alone and as part of a small multi-disciplined team
  • Enthusiastic with the ability to learn quickly
  • Flexible and able to prioritise tasks
  • Effective time-management skills
  • Willing to give long-term commitment to the company
  • Ideally residing and settled locally, or prepared to relocate

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design and drafting of components and assemblies
  • Identification and sourcing of necessary components
  • Liaising with key suppliers
  • Assembly of prototypes
  • Concept generation, presentation and documentation
  • Test and validation procedure writing and implementation
