Open-Rank Faculty Position, Cognitive Psychology

The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences of the University of Virginia invites applications for an open-rank faculty position (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) in Cognitive Psychology. We seek candidates whose work focuses on any area of Cognitive Psychology, including but not limited to memory, perception, decision-making, language, or neuroscience (cognitive, affective, computational).

The Cognitive area has research strengths in perception (including social perception), memory (e.g., false memories), and changes in cognition across the lifespan (e.g., processing speed). There is a rich collaborative environment in the department and university, including links with the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, and Education as well as international collaborations with the Max Planck Research School on the Life Course. More generally, the University of Virginia has state-of-the-art research facilities, including imaging facilities, and has been ranked among the top 3 public universities by U.S. News & World Report since the publication began ranking public universities as a separate category.

Review of applications will begin October 14, 2016. The appointment begins with the fall term of 2017, with an anticipated start date of July 25, 2017. Applicants must have received their PhD by the beginning of their employment. In addition to developing external funding to support research endeavors, candidates will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and provide service to the University, Department and professional organizations.
