NewRail Centre for Railway Research is looking to appoint a Research Associate to assist the line manager and work closely with Research Associates on key research projects in the area of control and monitoring of railway assets using sensor and communication technologies, specific measuring equipment, processing of data, etc.
You are expected to hold an excellent first degree or postgraduate degree complemented a PhD in a relevant engineering domain. Knowledge of Railway Engineering is desirable. As the role will require working closely with industry and academic partners, excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
The post will require European travel and can be based in either NewRail’s headquarters in Newcastle or at their regional office in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
NewRail’s areas of expertise are in railway technologies (vehicles, infrastructure and systems) and freight and logistics.
Appointment is for two years fixed term. Part-time appointment considered.
