Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Functional Genomics within an exciting new research programme to understand pathogenesis and improve treatment of patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The research aims to build on recent success in genome-wide association studies of AS to now fine-map associations and establish function for specific genetic variants in a disease context, defining mechanistic links with particular gene(s) and pathways that can be taken forward as potential drug targets.
We seek a highly motivated, proactive individual who will benefit from the exceptional research environment for functional genomics, bioinformatics and statistical genetics at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics. You will use cutting-edge functional immunogenomics approaches to map the regulatory epigenomic landscape in ankylosing spondylitis and define the consequences of genomic and epigenomic variation. This will involve patient samples, application of next generation sequencing based methods and advanced genome editing.
You will have a PhD in genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related discipline together with relevant research experience in molecular biology and genomics, the ability to work in a team and have a strong publication record.
The position is funded by Arthritis Research UK and is fixed-term for 3 years, but not beyond 31 March 2020 in the first instance.
Please quote ref. 125487 on all correspondence. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.
