College of Science and Engineering
We seek to hire two Research Associates. In broad outline, one will work on simulation development, where they will be expected to take a leading role in the ATLAS full and fast simulation for the ATLAS detector; the other will work on trigger development, where they will work on the implementation of trigger menus in response to increases in LHC's instantaneous luminosity. The successful candidates will be expected to make leading contributions to our physics analysis activities. There may also be opportunity to gain experience with silicon pixel detector development. For both positions it is expected to have a good working knowledge of the C++ and python programming languages. Familiarity with the simulation or trigger is welcome, but not required. Software skills and physics analysis interests are essential.
There are two positions available, one of which may be appointed at Senior Research Associate (SRA) level. The selection panel will determine the level of appointment (PDRA Grade 7 or SRA Grade 8) based on the knowledge, skills and experience demonstrated during the recruitment process.
The Grade 7 salary range is £31,656 to £37,768 and the Job Description is below. The Grade 8 salary range is £38,896 to £46,414
The posts are fixed term for 2 years with possible extension.
