Applicants are invited to apply for a new position at either Research Assistant (pre-doctoral) or Research Associate (post-doctoral) level funded by a new EPSRC Healthcare Impact Partnerships grant to the Centre for the development of optimal robotic catheter navigation through dynamic vasculature for improved endovascular procedures. The project involves the development of a new master robot manipulator, improved catheter sensing, and improved navigation through shape instantiation and simultaneous catheter and environment mapping. The project is to be carried out by a multidisciplinary team with complementary research skills in robotics, sensing, imaging, and endovascular intervention.

We are looking for outstanding applicants in any of the following areas of research:

  • Medical image computing and image guided intervention, particularly for cardio-vascular procedures;
  • Co-operative control, manipulation and learning from demonstration for robot assisted intervention;
  • Statistical shape modelling and ideally with combined skills in computational fluid dynamics simulation and analysis.

At Research Assistant level you must have a Masters degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Computing, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline. At Research Associate level you must have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in the above related disciplines.
