About the Department:
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), which is an academic unit within the College of Engineering, offers a unique undergraduate program in  Biomedical Engineering, which was ABET accredited in 2015. The BME Department aspires to attain a leadership position in biomedical engineering research, education and innovation in line with the Abu Dhabi 2030 plan. 

The BME Department houses state of the art electrophysiology, human movement, cell culture, tissue engineering, molecular biology and genetics laboratories as well as the only zebra fish laboratory in the UAE. The Department has a vibrant team of internationally experienced faculty who have been very successful in attracting research funding over a number of years. The first cohort of Master’s students will graduate in the near future and a major drive to increase graduate enrolments at MSc and PhD level is in progress.

About the Role:
Starting in Spring 2017 or Fall 2017, this position will conduct teaching, research and academic service. Academic rank is open.

The candidate is expected to have a strong research potential, demonstrated by relevant publications in high-impact journals, and teaching experience in above mentioned areas. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills. Successful candidates are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain active research programs that lead to peer-reviewed publications in high-impact professional journals, and provide service to the department, the university, and the profession. 

Successful candidates are also expected to be involved in thematic research within one or more of the university research priority areas.

About The Person:

Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from a reputable university. The Department is particularly interested in motivated candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Biomechanics (Musculoskeletal or Tissue), Human Movement Analysis, Biorobotics, Bionics and Neuroengineering, Neurophysiology, Medical Imaging, Computational Modelling in Biomedical Systems or closely related areas of Biomedical Engineering.

The candidate is expected to have a strong research potential, demonstrated by relevant publications in high-impact journals, and teaching experience in above mentioned areas. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills. The medium of instruction across Khalifa University is English.
