Interested in working in a fast-paced commercial clinical environment?  Would you like to lead a strategic project to enable a company to develop a novel rapid diagnostic screening test for varicose veins and superficial venous reflex to influence clinical practice worldwide? Are you a motivated scientist with an interest in bioinformatics and developing your expertise in a commercial environment for an accelerated career? If so, this may be the role for you.

The Role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to lead and deliver a 36 month Knowledge Transfer Partnership project between The Whiteley Clinic Ltd and the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Surrey.  You will work with both the company and University academics to successfully complete the goals of the KTP, including development, testing and marketing of a new product from concept to customer. The project will involve knowledge exchange between The Whiteley Clinic and the University of Surrey.

The Company

The Whiteley Clinic is a private medical facility specialising in the treatment of varicose veins and other venous conditions, such as thread veins, leg ulcers and phlebitis.  The Clinic is internationally renowned for its investigation and treatment of venous disease based on research proven principles.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate with a Master’s degree in biological or health related sciences.  You will have the opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills in the areas of molecular biology, big data capture and analysis, clinical diagnostic device development and project management.  Developing these skills in a fast paced commercial clinical environment will provide significant experience and a unique opportunity for career progression.  You will develop skills in market analysis and business growth planning.

We require a self-starter who will perform beyond the bounds of the immediate tasks set and create real impact for The Whiteley Clinic.  You will be demonstrably self-motivated, creative, highly proactive and able to work well on your own initiative and in a collaborative team. You will have excellent organisational, ICT, interpersonal and communication skills, as well as experience of writing technical reports.

The project is funded by Innovate UK and The Whiteley Clinic under a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme. KTP supports collaborations between business and universities, placing graduates in industry to work on challenging, high profile programmes. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the competitiveness, wealth creation and economic performance of the UK by the enhancement of knowledge transfer and skills, and the stimulation of innovation.

This is an excellent opportunity to work at the interface of a commercial organisation with the support of the University of Surrey, named University of the year 2016.
