Durham University - Department of Classics and Ancient History
|Salary:||£31,656 to £55,389 per annum (grade 7,8 or 9).|
|Placed on:||29th September 2016|

The Department of Classics and Ancient History seeks to appoint an outstanding candidate at Lecturer (Assistant Professor) or Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) level. We welcome applications from exceptional scholars with research and teaching interests in the broad field of ancient Greek culture. Applications are equally welcome from scholars with a primary interest either in literature or in history, including cultural history.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the development of the Department’s research and teaching. The successful candidate will be part of a significant programme of expansion and investment in the Department. We are currently advertising four permanent positions in Classics, this one included.
For a lectureship we are keen to invite applications from individuals at any stage of their academic career. Candidates in the early stages of their career should have a completed doctorate (or have a doctorate under examination) and be able to demonstrate the capacity for international-level research achievement. More experienced candidates will be expected to have a more significant publication record. For a senior lectureship, applicants will already be established academics and be expected to have a strong publication record, along with the ability to secure research income and attract Doctoral students.
We prefer to receive applications online via the Durham University Vacancies Site, which can be accessed using the apply button below.
