We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced trialist to take over the Directorship of the Centre for Healthcare Randomised Trials (CHaRT). As Director, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational running of CHaRT. CHaRT is an established and highly successful trials unit dedicated to the design and conduct of high-quality trials, primarily multicentre trials of non-drug and complex interventions. CHaRT is part of the University’s Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) and integrated within the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU), which is core funded by the Scottish Government Health Directorates. Working collaboratively, you will take responsibility for the strategic direction of the Centre, help to secure funding for new trials, and take responsibility for a portfolio of projects within the Centre. Currently CHaRT has a portfolio of 30 ongoing studies (20 recruiting;10 in follow-up). Details on the current portfolio of trials is available at http://w3.abdn.ac.uk/HSRU/CHART/

A strong track record in research using randomised controlled trials, substantial evidence of published research and demonstrable ability to lead the writing of papers is also required. A proven track record in securing external grant income, experience and proven ability as a Principal Investigator or research team leader and a high level of competence in research methods related to randomised controlled trials is also expected.
A competitive salary is available for outstanding candidates.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to either Professor Craig Ramsay, HSRU Director (firstname.lastname@example.org or 01224 438142) or Professor Siladitya Bhattacharya, IAHS Director (email@example.com or 01224 437975).
