Research Assistant - Networking

Fixed term to 31 December 2017.

The Department of Computer Science at Liverpool John Moores University is looking for a Research Assistant, to start as soon as possible to work on an EU-funded research and development project in the area of Mobile and Wireless Communications. The project combines both fundamental research and practical development of solutions to reduce Wi-Fi interference and provide optimised connectivity for new and emerging services. As a member of the project, you would be expected to work closely with European partners from Spain, Netherlands, and Turkey.

You will be expected to have a background of research in networking, mobile and wireless communications or related areas, and ideally have – or be nearing completion of – a PhD in a relevant subject. You must also have experience in network programming with programming languages such as Java or C/C++ as well as experience in network simulation tools. Experience with the OpenWRT platform would be an advantage. Good analytical research and communication skills are essential.
