University of Gloucestershire - Academic Development Unit

The University of Gloucestershire is seeking to appoint four members of academic staff who are passionate about their academic subject and about teaching, learning and assessment in higher education. These are full-time permanent posts based within the appropriate academic subject community and School but for an initial three year period half their time will be committed to work as an enhancement consultant for the University’s Academic Development Unit.

We welcome applicants from experienced academics with expertise in one of the subject areas within the University’s academic portfolio www.glos.ac.uk/study/pages/study-with-us.aspx. In addition applications will have particular expertise and a successful track record in relation to teaching, learning and assessment. Applicants will identify the particular contribution they could bring to the role of an enhancement consultant within the Academic Development Unit (ADU) in one of the enhancement priority areas listed below

  • Assessment strategy and practice
  • Technology-enhanced learning
  • Employability and curriculum design

Those appointed will each make a substantial contribution to their academic subject community through teaching, research, professional practice and / or knowledge-exchange. For an initial three year period, as enhancement consultants, they will also make a significant contribution to the achievement of the university’s enhancement priorities by working with colleagues across the university. Enhancement consultants will be expected to lead and join University wide projects and programmes of work in the implementation of the Academic Strategy. The post holders will be required to have topic expertise, as well as significant practitioner expertise as a teacher, course developer and academic leader.
