Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry/Biomolecular interactions in Biosciences
|Placed on:||30th September 2016|
|Closes:||20th November 2016|
The Department of Biosciences at Durham wishes to appoint a candidate at Lecturer (Assistant Professor) or Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) level. The Department is broad-based in its research and teaching.
It has particular strengths in fundamental aspects of biochemistry, cell and developmental biology and ecology, evolution and environment, using a range of experimental systems and underpinning applications in biotechnology, molecular plant sciences and environmental services. It is situated on the main science campus in Durham City, and a particular feature of our research strategy is working across disciplines, at the interface between biology and the physical and mathematical sciences, and the social sciences.
These posts offer an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the development of the Department’s research and teaching, and the successful candidates will contribute to relevant undergraduate courses and research postgraduate training. New Lecturers will have little or no teaching in their first year, to allow their research programmes to become established, and we provide a strong mentoring system.
The Department of Biosciences is one of the very best UK biology departments (ranked 5th in the 2017 Complete University Guide) with an outstanding reputation for excellence in teaching, research and employability of our students. Ranked 8th in REF2014 in terms of research impact, the Department is fortunate to have outstanding next-generation research infrastructure.
Successful applicants will, ideally, be in post by 1st September 2017
We embrace excellence in all its forms and invite all qualified candidates to apply. We particularly welcome applications from women, candidates with disabilities and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in the University.
