Department of Science and Environment at Roskilde University invites applications for a position as a full professor of chemistry with appointment early 2017, or soon thereafter.
Job Description & Qualifications:
The professor’s duties will comprise research at the highest international level and a strong commitment to teaching at the chemistry study program. The position is open to applicants from different areas of chemistry and the new professor is expected to establish a leading research group under the overall theme of Chemistry in health and environment. The department is particularly interested in research themes that can complement ongoing activities in the chemistry group and/or establish strong collaborations with the department’s other study programs, which may be found on the University homepage. Some prioritized research areas (listed in alphabetical order) include design and characterization of enzymes for biomass treatment, drug stability and -delivery, dye-sensitized solar cells, monitoring xenobiotica, natural products and bioactive components, stability of biomacromolecules in solutions and gels and sustainable reaction pathways in organic synthesis.
Department of Science and Environment has a strategic aim to increase external collaboration with private and public companies and we therefore invite candidates both with a university record of accomplishment and/or an industrial research background to apply for the position.
In considering applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant ́s ability to document a high level of original scientific production at an international level within his or her research area. The professor must have strong leadership competences and be interested in leading a research group.
Roskilde University has strategic focus on student recruitment, industrial collaboration and cross-disciplinary science, and the professor must be willing to support this strategy with the urge to develop new collaboration platforms. The professor will teach in an interdisciplinary environment and engage in problem-oriented project work with extensive student involvement and responsibility.
In addition, the professor must be able to attract external funding, develop the chemistry curriculum, participate in knowledge sharing with the community, participate in mentoring duties, be responsible for the educational guidance of assistant professors, and support and participate in the supervision of students at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level. A strong international research network is a requirement.

Terms of employment:
The position will be filled according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The position is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure.
