We are seeking a highly motivated ambitious individual who will undertake leading research in the area of Adult Cardiovascular Disease. The successful candidate will be part of the Newcastle University Cardiovascular Research Centre within the Institute of Genetic Medicine. They will be appointed Honorary Consultant in the Cardiothoracic Medicine Directorate at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to attract independent funding and have a strong scientific track record in order to develop and lead in translational vascular biology including atherosclerosis and cardiovascular mouse disease models, clinical studies in ischemic heart disease and functional genomics with focus on RNA biology and RNA modifications in cardiovascular disease development and therapy.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to relevant teaching programmes and to supervise student research projects as well as providing advice to clinical trainees.
