Liverpool Hope University is a vibrant community with high scholarly standards. We are proud of our past, confident in our present and ambitious for our future. Research is central to our curriculum development and enhancement and all academic staff at the University engage in research. Building upon our REF 2014 submission we are looking with ambition and confidence to the next REF, strengthening even further our research degree programme (PhD and EdD). This developing research expertise builds upon and complements our already well established reputation for excellence in teaching and learning. Our policy is to combine these elements of our work in keeping with the University’s stated academic profile as a research-informed teaching University of distinction. It is in this context that we now seek scholars in a number of areas who will join with us in pursuit of excellence; these opportunities include the post of: Senior Professional Tutor in Primary Mathematics
The School of Teacher Education at Liverpool Hope is expanding. Building upon our success, evidenced most recently by exceptional results in the national student satisfaction survey and our employability statistics, we are now seeking an outstanding colleague to join us to make a major contribution to the development and subject leadership of primary mathematics within the School. This is a role of considerable significance, and we are looking for an applicant who has the professional expertise, drive and ambition to build on current strengths to lead the development of outstanding provision for our students. The person appointed will have high-level expertise in primary mathematics and substantial recent experience within an appropriate professional context. The appointment is at Grade 8, Senior Professional Tutor, on the pay scale.
You will have responsibility for the coordination of primary mathematics provision and will be mathematics team leader. Given the strategic importance of this post you will report directly to the Head of ITE. There is a priority within the School to develop primary mathematics at all levels (BAQTS, PGCE, MEd) and we are keen to develop a new route within the primary undergraduate QTS programme and, potentially, at PGCE for 2018 entry. As a highly-skilled professional you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the School’s growing portfolio of CPD.
We are looking for an individual who will bring enthusiasm and a sense of vocation for his or her chosen profession, and with demonstrable successful experience in an educational context. You will be supported to develop fully as a leader; this may include training and professional development sourced either within the University or externally. Bringing substantial, recent and relevant professional experience, you will be looking for an opportunity to work with others to ensure that a Hope Newly Qualified Teacher will be an effective, reflective, fully-informed and committed shaper of the future.
The post is permanent (subject to a 12 month probationary period) and we are looking for an immediate start date, where possible.
