The University of Central Lancashire has made a major investment in engineering research, teaching and knowledge transfer with industry through the development of a new Engineering Innovation Centre at the Preston campus. This investment will exploit our location at the centre of one of the most important engineering/manufacturing areas in the UK and establish UCLan as a leading university for developing engineering innovation with industry.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Quantity Surveying to support the School in delivering its commitments to teaching, research and income generation in the area of quantity surveying. The post holder will support the future operation and enhancement of the undergraduate and postgraduate quantity surveying programmes and contribute to the teaching of our construction related programmes – including supervision of level 6 and 7 projects and postgraduate research students.
The successful applicant will have a successful track record of research and/or industrial experience in quantity surveying as well as an ability to teach across all levels and develop research activity. A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or similar construction related subject) and membership of a relevant professional institution (or working towards membership) are essential requirements for this position. Teaching experience in Higher Education to first degree level, and a PhD in an appropriate subject are desirable.
Utilising excellent communication skills, the successful applicant will have an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and to be able to develop links and opportunities with industrial partners. The School of Engineering has further been successful in the setting up and running of Quantity Surveying courses overseas, requiring the successful applicant to work overseas for short periods of time
