Research Assistant for the Religious Life Vitality Project

Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology

A Conrad N Hilton Foundation grant has enabled the creation of a new Research Assistant role within the Religious Life Vitality Research Project, based at the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology in Cambridge.

This is a collaborative project between the Centre for Catholic Studies at Durham University, the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge (MBIT), and the Religious Life Institute (RLI) at Heythrop College, University of London. The Project comprises two separate but related research projects focussing on the future sustainability of Religious Life for women in East/Central Africa and a second project: Discerning the Future of Religious Life in the UK and Ireland. The projects are staffed by one common team and co-ordinated from Durham University.

The appointee will support the work of both research projects and will work to the two Project Co-Directors. The post will involve contributing to the research design and aspects of implementation: inviting and increasing participation in the research through building effective relationships with congregations of women religious and their representative bodies in the UK and Ireland and also with the relevant standing conferences  in the project locations in East Africa; setting up appropriate administrative and record-keeping systems and working to ensure the project gathers and produces high quality data. Responsibility also covers communication within and across the research team, partner institutions and relevant external partners.

This is an exciting opportunity for an able researcher with experience of qualitative research methods at post graduate level who has energy and proven gifts for academic administration, organisation and delivery and who wishes to gain significant experience in supporting a major research project into RC women’s religious life in the UK/Ireland and Africa.

This is a full time fixed term post, to June 2019, at Grade 5, £23,000 to start as soon as possible.

Full details of the post can be found
