The Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies in the School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture seeks to appoint a part-time, fixed-term Teaching Fellow in Spanish and Latin American Studies for six months from 1 January 2017 at 0.6 FTE.
Applicants should hold a PhD relevant to the field and have teaching experience in Spanish and Latin American Studies at undergraduate level. The role will be undertaken within the School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture, which is part of the College of Arts & Social Sciences. Spanish and Latin American Studies at Aberdeen has a long history of excellence. Its Spanish language courses cover the full range of abilities from beginners to advanced level. Its members of staff undertake research in a range of areas, including literature, anthropology, history, cultural studies and translation studies. Our research interests inform the design and content of courses at all levels of the programme, and at Honours level, students have the chance to study a wide range of topics which reflect the diverse areas of expertise in the department. The successful candidate will deliver teaching and undertake assessment on undergraduate courses offered by the Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies at sub-Honours (Levels 1 and 2) and Honours (Levels 3 and 4), including language, literature and cultural courses, with a focus on the history and culture of Latin America. Responsibilities may also include dissertation supervision and other aspects of departmental administration as agreed with the Undergraduate Programme Co-ordinator and the Head of School in Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 (£32,004-£38,184 pro annum pro rata) salary scale and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
