We are looking to recruit a Senior Animal Technician to work within our busy and highly automated aquatics facility based in Central Cambridge.
As a member of a hard working team, reporting to the Biofacility manager, you will supervise a small team of technicians to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the aquatics facility and maintain high standards of animal care and welfare. You will undertake both licenced & unlicensed scientific procedures along with daily husbandry, maintenance and care of frogs (Xenopus), training of new and trainee technicians when required. As NACWO, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care and welfare of the animals within the facility; ensuring that work conducted is fully authorised and compliant with Home Office rules and regulations. You are also responsible for the maintenance of all necessary records, referring any issues and concerns to the lead NACWO (Biofacility manager) as necessary.
You will have IAT level 3 or equivalent, Home Office Licence module categories A - C and will be a personal licence holder. In depth experience of working within an aquatics facility is essential, as are excellent communication skills and you must be able to use a computerised data management system. Previous supervisory/team leader experience is also desirable.
The successful candidate will work with a high degree of autonomy to ensure that all facility and record keeping duties are met and a high standard of service is provided to researchers.
