Professor of Development Geography

The Department of Geography, King’s College London, invites applications for the post of Professor in Development Geography. We are seeking internationally-distinguished applicants with an outstanding track-record of influential research, publications and external funding, and who have the ability to demonstrate clear leadership in research and teaching. In particular, we seek applicants whose work contributes specifically to the geographies of development and whose work cuts across the core human and environmental geography interests of the Department, for example in cities, migration, critical development studies, political ecology, risk governance, water security, climate & culture, and geocomputation. Applications are particularly sought from those who can offer international leadership in one or more of these themes and whose work strengthens our existing research expertise in regions of the global south. 

The appointed candidate will promote and advance high-quality teaching and learning through curriculum development and the management, delivery and monitoring of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Additionally the appointed candidate will promote research excellence and foster a supportive research culture, contributing to the research profile of the Department, Faculty and College through high quality publications and presentations and mentorship of junior colleagues. This post will form part of our investment in strengthening and deepening our research profile and the student experience in Geography at King’s and is consistent with the Department and Faculty's vision for growth and commitment to research excellence. 

The selection process will include a presentation and a panel interview. 

Interviews are scheduled to be held on either the 10th or 20th January 2017. 

This post will be based on a competitive salary to be negotiated, minimum £64,979 per annum, plus £2,623 per annum London Allowance. 

This post will also be based on a full time, indefinite contract
