Research Associate in Organic Synthesis & Methodology

Cardiff University - Cardiff School of Chemistry

We seek to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated scientist with proven intellectual and technical abilities to work on a synthetic organic chemistry project. The 11-month project, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), will be led by Dr Duncan Browne.

The overall focus of the project is on the development of synthetic methodology under solvent-less conditions. Preliminary results in our group have so far uncovered both unpredicted control of chemo-selectivity and vastly reduced reaction times. In addition, we will conduct proof-of-concept studies for the scale up of such processes via continuous extrusion.

Interested applicants should have a first degree in Chemistry and preferably a PhD in a relevant area of synthetic chemistry.

Informal enquires should be made to Duncan: e-mail ; Tel. +44 (0)29 2087 5571

Further information is available at the group webpage:

The post is full-time, fixed-term for 11 months and available from 1st December 2016.
