The Centre for Media Communications Research within the department of Electronic and Computer Engineering is seeking an adept research assistant who has a demonstrable track record of working in a multi disciplinary research environment in an international project setting. The project consortium involves internatinoal players from academia, industry as well as government institutions, e.g. ministries, and decision makers within the cultural heritage preservation context. The successful candidate should produce evidence of research experience in advanced 3D imaging technologies, and a particular emphasis on Holoscopic imaging, as well as Big Data analytics. This involves low-level visual media analysis techniques as well as data/metadata fusion and analytics aimed at automatic classification and big data summarisation. Knowledge of basic signal processing princples and relevant simulation packages and programming tools is necessary.
The successful candidate should be able to work with a team spirit addressing the project needs and requirements in accodance with the project work plan and periodic review strategy. The Sucessful candidate will hold a degree or equvialent, a PhD qualification would be desirable but is not a stipulation. Ability to write articles e.g. papers, periodic reports and documents etc to report the project progress in a timely manner and disseminate research findings is paramount and will be meticulously considered in shortlisting applications and making the final appointment decision.
