We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated person who wishes to gain experience in clinical and translational research. This post funded by the Wellcome Trust would be ideally suited to a Research Assistant or Postdoctoral scientist wanting to move into research co-ordination or wanting to gain some experience of working in this area before deciding about a future career.
You will be based at the Institute of Metabolic Science, Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where you will join our internationally leading team of scientists and clinical researchers working to translate genetic findings into benefits for human health. Our research has led to multiple scientific discoveries in the area of metabolic disease and informs the design of therapies for patients with obesity and diabetes.
The ideal candidate should be educated to degree level in Biomedical Science or a closely related discipline and ideally have previous experience of working in an academic research environment. You will be responsible for the accurate recording, extraction, checking and entry of clinical and genetic data onto bespoke databases and will contribute to the co-ordination and monitoring of a number of research studies which involves liaison with laboratory and clinical teams. In addition to our work in obesity, we are opening up a new area of research into thinness. Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills are essential.
Proposed start date: as soon as possible.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment. This appointment also requires a Research Passport application.
