The Royal College of Psychiatrists is the leading medical authority on mental health in the United Kingdom and is the professional and educational organisation for doctors specialising in psychiatry. The College plays a central role in establishing and promoting the highest standards of psychiatric care and training in the United Kingdom.
Public Affairs and Communications at the Royal College of Psychiatrists is changing and this is an opportunity to shape and be part of that change at an exciting time for Mental Health Policy. The successful candidate will have good political and strategic judgement but they will also be able to demonstrate that they can think creatively about how the RCPsych can leverage its networks, credibility and reputation to take its influencing to another level. They will have extensive networks in Parliament, Whitehall and in organisations engaged in the development of public policy. They will be able to use those contacts to identify trends and anticipate opportunities to keep the College influencing activities ahead of the curve.
The College has worked with partners to achieve policy change and additional funding for mental health. Now the task is to ensure that the vision is realised and money gets to the front line. We need someone with the talent to work with colleagues to shape and implement a strategy to bring that about.
