The Global Urban Research Unit (GURU) at Newcastle University is seeking to appoint a Professor of Urban Ageing to further develop its research in this field. The following research themes and agendas are of interest: age friendly communities; design and the interface with health and well-being; digital innovation and inclusion; mobility and transport; housing; ageing in the developing world; ageing in deprived neighbourhoods; urban representation; democracy and participation of older people; and the interface between ageing and sustainability agendas.
The Professor of Urban Ageing will be an individual of international reputation and standing with an outstanding record of publication, high quality research income generation and engagement with and impact upon policy. The post offers an opportunity to join an expanding area of research investment at Newcastle University and to make rich inter-disciplinary connections with researchers in fields of social gerontology, medicine and sciences and to connect with policy makers and industry through Newcastle Age Friendly City.
