The University is seeking a dynamic individual with energy and vision to be Head of the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences to lead and direct the progress of the School from its current position of strength.
As a high-profile role within the University, it provides academic and professional leadership within the context of the Faculty and the University’s values, mission and strategic plan to ensure the effective governance of academic schools.
You will be able to demonstrate academic leadership (or professional equivalent) and have a strong track record of educational achievements related to teaching. You will have the proven ability to lead and inspire a team and work with vision and foresight successfully, as well as having experience of actively contributing to the leadership and development of an organization or key function at a strategic or senior management level.
Competitive salary based on the Management and Professorial scale which starts at £62,229 per annum. You will also receive an annual Head of School allowance of £8,400. Term: 3 years, with a possibility of a second 3 year term. The position of Professor of Sport and Exercise Sciences attached to this position is an on-going position.
School of Sport and Exercise Sciences
The School is a leading department for the study of sport that is friendly, dynamic and innovative. Based on the University of Kent’s award-winning Medway Campus we are an ambitious academic department set up in 2001. Our aim is to establish the University of Kent as a premier institution for Sport and Exercise in teaching and research.
The School delivers the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses in sport-related subjects. We also offer the University’s first professional doctorate programme designed for experienced practitioners, in the Sport, Exercise and Health professions. As a consequence of recent growth and development we have more than doubled in size to over 520 students and 19 academic staff.
The School has dedicated clinics and laboratories at nearby Medway Park Sports Centre. The campus is easily accessible from London and surrounding areas with a high-speed train service that takes 45 minutes from the Medway towns to St Pancras in central London.
