The University Department of Paediatrics is seeking to appoint a Paediatric Research Fellow to work within the Oxford Vaccine Group (OVG), conducting clinical vaccine trials under the direction of Andrew Pollard, Professor of Paediatric Infection and Immunity. These studies are expected to lead to publications.
This post primarily provides experience in clinical research in a multi-disciplinary academic environment. Research fellows are often involved in development of study protocols and the process of ethical/regulatory submission. You may also have the opportunity to participate in paediatric outpatient clinic and an in-patient consultation service in paediatric infectious diseases. You may be involved in regular teaching of medical students, nurses and paediatric trainees in infectious diseases and immunology. For candidates interested in research beyond the current post, there may be the opportunity to seek further independent funding and to develop a project in immunobiology or microbiology leading to a higher degree.
Candidates will be required to have the MRCPCH or equivalent. The position is full-time and ideally candidates should be available to start as soon as possible.
