The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,056 - £41,163 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The Cosmology group at UCL is very active in observational cosmology, with leading roles in several international projects including: the Dark Energy Survey (DES), Planck, LOFAR, CLASH, SKA, Euclid, BigBOSS, DESI.
The main purpose of the role is to undertake research with emphasis to cosmology, contributing to the development and testing of current algorithms and simulations required in the advent of the next generation of radio instruments and space surveys: the Square Kilometre Array and Euclid. The applicant will interact with the whole cosmology and astrophysics group, including other cosmology faculty members Filipe Abdalla, Benjamin Joachimi, Hiranya Peiris, Ofer Lahav, Richard Ellis and Andrew Pontzen as well other astrophysics members. The position is available starting 1 April 2017.
This position is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in Cosmology, Radio Astronomy, Data analysis or Statistical methods and will be able to analyse and present complex information effectively to a range of audiences.
Candidates should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
